Meta's AI agent Muse has passed 5 million downloads, according to market intelligence firm Sensor Tower, which reported the milestone as of Wednesday. The app launched on September 8, so it got there in under a month.
Muse is free and available only in the US and Canada. It currently ranks first on both Apple's App Store and Google Play in those two countries. Disney+ and Pokémon Go passed 5 million downloads in similar timeframes.
The other AI apps took longer to reach that mark. ChatGPT needed 56 days, Grok 103 days, and Claude 492 days.
The source says Muse's customizable anthropomorphic avatar makes it easier for people who aren't tech-savvy to use. Meta plans to eventually take a small commission on sales made through the agent.
Sensor Tower also reports that Meta gave 50% of its "daily house impressions" to Muse between September 14 and September 27. That put Meta among the "top 15 brands by advertising impression in the US" during those two weeks.
On Tuesday, OpenAI launched its own AI platform, Dots, which has a similar avatar. OpenAI CFO Sarah Friar said Dots targets the enterprise market first and will expand to consumers later.
