Bianca Monley quit her job as a waitress in October with $100 to her name and a Bondi apartment, setting out to start a meal delivery service. The Australian, then 21, began by cooking for 10 gym friends. The business has since grown into a company with $5 million in revenue, a presence in Melbourne and Sydney, and a 100-acre farm.
Monley did the cooking, packing and delivery herself in the early days, according to her website, before bringing in specialists as the company expanded. The business runs on a farm-to-table model, delivering fresh meals directly to customers. Monley's website states her initial goal was to help people eat better, and that this evolved into a broader mission to change perceptions around healthy food.
The company launched its 100-acre farm once it was producing around 10,000 meals a week, a move stated on Monley's website as being aimed at increasing transparency in food production.
Actor Hugh Jackman became a customer and was photographed with one of the company's meal coolers. Miranda Kerr, Cate Blanchett and Gwyneth Paltrow have also endorsed the business, following Jackman's association with it.
