Bo Bryan, a quarterback in the Class of 2027 and the son of country music star Luke Bryan, has committed to play football at the University of Georgia. Reports date the commitment to Sunday, though one outlet puts it on Monday. Bryan, a three-star prospect from Battle Ground Academy in Franklin, Tennessee, announced it on X with the words "Only place I wanna be Athens I'm coming home." He plans to sign in December and enroll in January.
Georgia offered Bryan his first Power 4 scholarship on October 19, and he committed within a week. Accounts differ on who he spoke to when he accepted. Some say it was a phone call with offensive coordinator Mike Bobo, and another says he committed to head coach Kirby Smart. Bryan told one recruiting outlet, "As soon as I got the call, I knew," and described the moment as "literally a dream come true." He picked Georgia over offers from Austin Peay, North Alabama and UT Martin. Other outlets also list East Tennessee State, Arkansas State, Tennessee Tech and Eastern Kentucky.
Bryan's senior season ended early. He was the starting quarterback and had thrown for 2,006 yards and 30 touchdowns with three interceptions, completing 114 of 155 passes, as his team went 7-1. One report says he broke his collarbone on October 16, while another describes a season-ending shoulder injury earlier in the month. He was a backup as a junior in 2025, when Battle Ground Academy won the TSSAA Division II-AA state title.
Battle Ground Academy ran a spread offense, and Bryan is described as a pocket passer. Rankings vary by service. He is in the low 140s among quarterbacks nationally by the 247Sports Composite, and ESPN ranks him 107th among pocket passers in the class. Battle Ground coach Bobby Bentley, who was an offensive assistant under Bobo at South Carolina in 2020, told the Athens Banner-Herald that Bryan has a "very good" arm and "understands spatial awareness in the passing game." Bentley called him "a team leader in the locker room, the epitome of what a quarterback represents on and off the field." Andrew Ivins, 247Sports' director of scouting, said Bryan impressed with timing and touch at an Elite 11 regional combine. Yahoo Sports describes him as a developmental player in a multi-year project, with a chance to compete for the starting job down the line.
Bryan is Georgia's second quarterback commitment in the 2027 class, joining four-star Colton Nussmeier of Archbishop Rummel in Metairie, Louisiana. Nussmeier is the brother of former LSU quarterback Garrett Nussmeier. Bryan's commitment follows what Yahoo Sports calls a challenging spring and summer for the program.
Luke Bryan grew up in Leesburg, Georgia, attended Georgia Southern and is a lifelong Georgia fan who regularly attends games. He has won five Entertainer of the Year awards and is a judge on ABC's "American Idol." In April, he and Jason Aldean co-headlined a concert at Georgia's Sanford Stadium.
Georgia's recruiting reaches beyond 2027. Koehn Dial, a four-star offensive lineman from Battle Ground Academy, is committed for 2028, and that class also includes Jayden Wade of IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida, a five-star prospect rated the No. 1 quarterback and No. 7 player nationally by the 247Sports Composite. Georgia is 6-1 overall and 4-1 in the SEC, and plays No. 17 Florida on Saturday at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta.
