Natalie Portman has welcomed a third child, her first with partner Tanguy Destable, the Oscar-winning actress said in an interview with Harper's Bazaar published Monday. The baby was born in August. Portman, 45, has not disclosed the child's name, sex or exact birth date.
She described the baby as "full of wonder and joy at this magical little human" and called the birth "a privilege and a miracle." Portman also said she believes this is probably the last time she will expand her family. "There is a gratitude that when you're young, you don't necessarily grasp," she said. "And knowing it's probably the last time, I cherish every moment."
Portman announced the pregnancy in April, and it took place in Paris, where Destable is based. He is a French musician who performs as Tepr. Their relationship became public in March 2025. The couple was seen with the newborn in Paris in early September. Portman said she remains vegan and described her view of pregnancy as a cleanse.
She has two older children, Aleph, 15, and Amalia, 9, from her marriage to the French choreographer Benjamin Millepied. The couple separated in 2023, with the filing in July, and the divorce was finalized in February 2024 after 11 years of marriage. Portman said the new baby brought "a whole new attention to my big kids," and that she thinks often about "how recently they were these little fresh creations." She said they have "blossomed into incredible humans."
The interview took place at the first solo exhibition in France by the American painter Joan Snyder. Portman recalled an 80-year-old artist there who said her work was about "the love of my grandkid." Portman took the same view of what matters. "The most important thing is love," she said, adding that the rest comes down to "just being kind and loving and being able to laugh."
