Skyscanner's Travel Trends 2027 report, published Sunday, found that 58 per cent of Indian travellers plan to travel abroad more next year. The report draws on a OnePoll survey of 2,000 Indian respondents conducted in July.
The report groups the shifts in travel behavior into seven named trends. Under "Signal Severance," 43 per cent of respondents said they need dedicated time away from devices to disconnect. "Pilgra-merch" captures a pull toward destinations for exclusive items tied to the place itself: 80 per cent said they had visited somewhere specifically to buy such items. "Sten Do Surge" points to a preference for joint pre-wedding celebrations, cited by 73 per cent. "Grand Odysseys" found 89 per cent of travellers drawn to destinations by history or mythology, while "Gymcation" found 91 per cent likely to book hotels offering fitness-focused breakfasts. "Sound Bound" showed 43 per cent favoring carnival-style experiences, and "Currency Chasers" found 69 per cent weighing a destination's currency strength before booking.
That value-consciousness shows elsewhere in the data. Sixty-seven per cent of respondents said they had changed, or considered changing, their destination for better value, and 69 per cent said currency strength factors into where they choose to go. Eighty-seven per cent said they are confident using artificial intelligence to plan travel.
Flight-search data in the report points to a sharp rise in interest in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, where searches increased 748 per cent. Searches to Pokhara rose 166 per cent, to Agatti 157 per cent, and to Phu Quoc 133 per cent.
On pricing, the report found economy-class return fares to Jaisalmer down 43 per cent compared with 2025.
